I am a female, 86 years old. My hip got progressively worse during the past two years, even though I had several cortisone shots and physical therapy. I reached the point of bone on bone pain, and needed hip replacement surgery.

My sister and several of her friends had hip replacement therapy performed by Dr. Robert Avino. Every one of them highly recommended Dr. Avino for my surgery.

I visited Dr. Avino for an examination, xrays, and his consultation. He pointed out the source of my pain, and verified my need for surgery. He clearly explained the details of the surgery, and what to expect in the weeks following the surgery.

After speaking about when the surgery could proceed with Dr. Avino and his assistant, Heather, I was so impressed that I agreed to proceed as soon as I could get on his schedule.

Heather provided an easy to understand, detailed writeup of the pre-op and post-op process. As I progressed through the process, I was totally impressed with the level of care and communication by Dr. Avino’s office staff (Heather and Jade), and the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center staff. I was just blown away by their thoroughness and support to get me through the surgery.

My surgery was complete by 8 am. I was walking with a nurse and a walker at 12:06 pm, and I returned home at 2:30! A far cry from what is used to be “back in the day.”

In home care was prearranged by Dr. Avino and his staff. A nurse and physical therapist visited my residence the day after surgery, as well as several times during the two weeks following surgery. Both were competent and supportive, and a big comfort to me immediately after
    surgery.

After in home therapy concluded, I started physical therapy at Dr. Avino’s office. I was very pleased and impressed with Jon, my therapist. He was upbeat and very professional. I continued to make good progress under his direction. Even the two therapy receptionists were a pleasure to interact with.

Within four weeks, my level of pain went from about a five after the operation down to zero. I did not need to take pain medication. I used Tylenol and that was sufficient.

Overall, I am so incredibly impressed with the people I encountered during the entire process … Dr. Avino, his assistants Heather and Jade, and the Palm Beach Gardens Medical staff. They were competent, upbeat, pleasant, and very professional. I felt very well cared for and safe.

If you need replacement hip surgery, I highly recommend you engage Dr. Avino.
