Surgical Experience & Expertise
Dr. Avino’s practice is focused exclusively on hip and knee replacement — not general orthopedics. This focused approach means every patient benefits from a surgeon whose daily work centers on the procedures they need.
He performs all joint replacement procedures using the Mako robotic-arm system and is certified in Mako total hip, total knee, and partial knee replacement. For hip replacement, he uses the direct anterior surgical approach, which spares muscles and may support a faster recovery.
Dr. Avino also serves as a surgeon consultant for Stryker Corporation — the maker of Mako technology — and as a faculty instructor for Stryker’s advanced robotic surgical training courses, teaching other surgeons on direct anterior techniques for complex primary hip replacements.
